Sivani Mata is an artist who is moved by a sensory and elemental exploration of life through practice that evokes the liminal experience of trance-like states of consciousness, and the centring of the awareness in heart. She believes in this process of deep inner work as a way to cultivate a harmonic relationship with the Earth.
GUIDE ME HOME
SIVANI MATA
This song is a communion with nature that came through one night (September 2020) in the Heavens valley in Stroud. It is a reminder of our connection to the elements and to come home to yourself. In the summer of 2022 my mother, Nikki Brewster, was diagnosed with a rare and advanced form of leukaemia. She passed 13 February 2023. During that journey I sang for her a lot, particularly in her final days. She requested this song again and again, as well as writing it in her wishes to be sung at her funeral. Through this, the meaning of 'Guide Me Home' was strengthened for me as a yearning to merge with creation, with the natural world. I offer this song in honour of my mother who birthed and raised me with such joy and love, and I am grateful for all who have supported me in its co-creation, particularly Mark Fisher and Jezney Hollis for their musical additions and Darren Moss for mixing and mastering. The artwork for "Guide Me Home" is a collage weaving images of the elements with an honouring of my mum.
