An afternoon exploring playing the harmonium for the practice of Kirtan.
Kirtan is the practice of singing the profoundly healing sounds of sanskrit mantra, which effortlessly drops our awareness out of our busy minds and into our hearts. Kirtan is from the path of Bhakti Yoga (pure love and compassion) and responds to where you are it and what you need in that moment, whether that is to bring you to a space of calm or elation. It can be deeply moving and incredibly joyful.
The harmonium is a common instrument used to support this practice, and it is quite a simple one, with a piano-like keyboard. In our exploration, we will look at the basics of playing the harmonium and practice playing and singing so Kirtan together.
Please bring your own harmonium – if this is not possible, let us know so we can see if we can source you one.
If you attended the first Kirtan Harmonium Basics session, this will be a similar level of ease, however, we will look at different mantras.
Investment: £30 – more information and booking at: www.tripspace.co.uk
This exploration is aimed at people in the beginning of their journey with the harmonium.
